Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team 200 for 9 beat Thaxted 170 for 10

Little Hallingbury managed their third league win of the season as they attempt to climb out of the relegation zone. After Oli Turner hitting 10 of the first over, Thaxted bowled tightly with the economical Haigh finishing with 2-22 off his 10 overs. Alex Turner again batted well for his 42 before falling to Wood and Dom Rae-Long continued his run of form with another 30. The day belonged to Tom Phipps who made a chanceless 50 before he was bowled by Yeldham A. for 61, with Hallingbury finishing on 200-9.

Both Alex Turner (1-20) and Nick Budd (2-41) picked up an early wicket each. Oli Turner catching Wood at slip off of Budd and Ed Sainsbury taking a tricky catch running around behind square off of Alex Turner when Gent was unable to control a pull shot. After that Matthews (44) and Yeldham (32) looked to be taking the game Thaxted's way as they took the score to 100-2 after 22 overs. Hallingbury dropped Yeldham twice before Sunny Bharambe bowled him with the first ball of his spell through the gate. It was Oli Turner's smart catch off of Bharambe when the dangerous Matthews pulled in the air behind square that turned the tide. In the end Bharambe's flight and turn proved too much for Thaxted's batsmen and it was fitting that he took the last wicket to win the game and finish with excellent figures of 7-28 off of his 10 overs.

As ever the key individual performances were backed up by a team performance which will ensure that relegation is not a foregone conclusion.
