Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team v Hockerill II's on Sat 04 Aug 2012 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report LHCC had a consecutive home fixture against neighbours Hockerill who had frustratingly won the previous league fixture in May. On a blustery summer's day Hockerill won the toss and surprisingly elected to bat hoping to build a big score on a decent looking strip where rain had held off since Thursday evening.Again with Amit behind the stumps the home side were enthused, and rewarded with some decent accurate bowling from Nick Budd (10-1-32-3)and Raj P(10-3-21-0).The fielding was sharper than last week with Andrew Chapman showing how to get down quick at square leg. Unlucky not to be awarded a runout from a rare Rowley direct hit, it seemed the cricketing Gods would turn in Hallingbury's favour later. Turn they did. After Budd had dismmissed both openers,it brought the taciturn Hockerill keeper to the crease, whose prime method of communing with his fellow cricketer is to hit the ball very, very hard. This also included felling their own square leg umpire. However a mistimed hoik from a poor long hop skied a catch back to mid off where Sudip(6-0-41-1) caught to make amends for his delivery. The Hockerill innings, interrupted by 2 sharp shower breaks, never really gained any momentum ,as tight bowling from Alex Turner (8-1-13-0) supported by a peculiar non-sloppiness in the field, snuffed out their gameplan. A stunning bowling change to Ollie Turner (5-3-8-2)saw his season debut first ball turn a prodigous 7 inches to clean bowl the no 5 as the attempted cut failed. Some resistance was shown by the no.4 who was well caught by Sudip off James Budd (6-0-27-1).Budd, not so senior, clean bowled the 7 , whilst Extras amassed 31 of the 152 -7 that Hockerill very slowly climbed to after 45 overs.
After a fine Mrs Rowley tea, ever mindful of the Hallingbury waistline where only 1 plate of pies was arranged, it seemed the visitors had brought their own; and duly served them up. Opening pair of Rowley and Amit were able to get stuck in with a brisk 28 off the first 2 overs. First wicket down at 65,Rowley (12)well caught at deep square leg in 10 th over. This brought Alex Turner (27) to produce on the drying pitch. Amit(73) calmly moved on dispatching the bad balls so Hockerill became most adept at retrieving from the ripening rapeseed fields. A pull too many found another fielder in the deep: 131-2 after 21 overs. The juice break brought Sudip (19 n.o.) to the fore, working this time in sequence with his brother Amit, rather than the tandem of last week. Before this the Umpire also gave a salutory lesson in LBW as numerous appeals from a right arm round, slung in short of a length, striking forward outside line of leg were consistently rejected. When the identical twin bowler was introduced at the same end as a more orthodox right arm over the wicket , so he was able to trap Alex Turner with a good yorker. With but a few runs required,Sudip's lofted drives plugging in the soft outfield causing fast running rather than boundaries,so the scene was set again for the talismanic Martin Dodds (4 n.o.)to secure the winning runs again. This time a decent looking square cut for four 156-3 in 25.4 overs . The sun set again, this time glinting on the golden, cold lager tasting of a decent victory for Stewart Goold and his team.
