Little Hadham v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team on Sun 25 Aug 2013 at 2.00pm
Match was Drawn
Match report
A good all-round team performance from a nice mix of youthful and more experienced (old) players maintained our unbeaten run with a winning draw at Little Hadham. With varying degrees of success all players passed the first task of finding the ground at the end of a wooded tunnel at the arse end of nowhere.
That accomplished, Berries won the toss and elected to bat on a bit of a sticky dog. While difficult to bat on initially, batsmen could score if patient while the surface offered nothing to the bowlers. Sunny Bharambe batted with panache and showed temperement behond his years to reach his first century, ending up on 125 and sharing a good partnership of 140 with his skipper Nick Thorne (56 n.o.).
Turner (32), Chapman (30 off 9 balls !) and Josh Rae-Long (20) chipped in to give Hallinbury another big total of 275.
Little Hadham offered little in reply to this fairly daunting target, mainly due to some first class bowling. Youngsters Will Goold and Matt Shepherd took a wicket apiece in economical short spells but it was Matt's old man Ivan who stole the show with figures of 4-9 off 5 overs. He's back !
Unfortunately the viitors still came up 3 wickets short, Hadham ending on 140-7. They were helped in their rearguard action by the skipper dropping a dolly from their opener Oxborough off the bowling of Shepherd junior at a crucial stage, then again later by Sunny off his own bowling. He finished not out on 57, and his opening stand with Peacock (35) laid the foundations for a hard earnt draw.
Berries were dissapointed and perhaps a bit unlucky not to make it 3 wins on the bounce.
Ah well - catches win matches !!!
