Takeley II v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team on Sat 20 Jun 2015 at 1.30pm
Match was Abandoned
Match report
Despite the poor weather forecast the match started only 15 minutes late with Takeley IIs winning the toss and electing to bat. Scoring was steady for the first 14 overs with Fensom conceding just 15 runs from his 7 over spell. The resolute Gunn fell to Astwood (1-39) as his thick outside edge was parried in balletic style by Malik in the gully who then maintained his composure to claim the catch at the second attempt. It was the enforced change that brought about the second wicket as Sammons was excellently caught by Turner at second gully after trying one to many times to guide the ball to the third man boundary. Some lusty blows from Maisey took the score from 42-2 to 88-3 when A Harrington was trapped lbw by Malik. Knightly then partnered Maisey and put on 54 for the fourth wicket when he fell for 31 bowled trying to slog sweep Kalyanker. The dangerous R Harrington toe-edged behind to Williams off of the Kalyankar and that pairing combined to remove Connoly as he was smartly stumped as hit back foot slid out of his ground. With 3 wickets falling with score on 142, Berries pressed home their advantage. Nash was well out of his ground as he danced down the wicket to Kalyankar who pushed the ball wide of the batsmen leaving Williams with all the time in the world to effect the stumping. Young N Connoly was Kalyankar's 5th wicket (5-21) as he was caught by Turner at point and that left Malik (2-27) to clean bowl J Connoly with Maisey left to carry his bat on 54. With a target of 154 to win Berries were hopeful of completing their 8 consecutive win but heavy rain over tea put pay to any hopes of finishing the match despite the willingness of everyone concerned to see it to completion.
