Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team v Ilford Catholic III on Sat 27 Jun 2015 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won 6 Wickets
Match report
On a sunny hot day, Berries skipper, Ishfaq Malik won the toss and opted to field first against Ilford Catholic IIIs. Opening pair Jay Fensom (10-2-30-0) and Rich Astwood again bowled tightly. Astwood repeated the feat of taking two wickets in as many balls as he ripped through the top order breaking another bail in the process. (That's three for the season now). He also had the opposition well caught in the covers by Williams to finish with 4-29.
Dobson picked up three wickets in his opening spell with Rumble taking a catch in the covers, running around from backward point, Turner taking a smart catch at second slip to dismiss Swain and Dobson catch Singh when he lobbed it back to the bowler. Alex Turner acheived the rare feat of bouncing somebody out on a Hallingbury wicket as Morgan guide the ball to Malik 4 balls after clearing the same man for 4. With Ilford Catholic 98-8 Berries were on course for low scoring run chase before the tail wagged , with 9 and 10 putting on 70 for the 9th wicket before Dobson (4-34) bowled Parupalli for 43.
Berries started their pursuit of 178 to win in positive style. Amit Kalyanker and Alex Turner put on 75 for the first wicket before Kalyanker (35) skied the ball to point. Turner was then stumped on 28 with Malik lbw soon afterwards for 4. Stuart Dobson (37) and Luke Rumble 42 not out put on 70 for the 4th wicket, with Jay Fensom (12) hitting the winning runs in a short cameo.
With half the season gone, Berries have now won 8 of their 9 games. The only blemish was last week's abandonment at Takeley.
