Wethersfield v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team on Sat 25 Jul 2015 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won 18 Runs

Match report Despite the absence of our standard match reporter, another win is recorded by LHCC. The venue was the bucolic Wethersfield, alas bereft of an Inn,but blessed with vistas worthy of Constable.
Winning the toss Captain Sudip backed his openers to attack with Rumble and Turner. Following 1.8 inches of rain overnight, and 16 for 1 of 10 overs , and merely 50 off 20, the home team despite down to 10 men were clearly on top.Good field placements, early non aggressive singles, tight bowling on a drying surface accounted for such reticence. Rumble's best shot an instinctive decent hook off a bouncer had him brilliantly caught over head height instantly at mid wicket. Thorne enjoying just batting rather than captaining the Sunday team, played well for his 30. Fensom brought much needed momentum and showed class with a perfect off drive for 4 out of his 13. With scoreboard pressure too much for the captain and in form Malik to instantly create runs they both fell to injudicious shot selection only causing a frown to the scorers nothing more. Dobson bustled for his good 15, and even Raj could only muster 7 in solitary singles. All the while Turner was developing, blocking and mistiming early on to flourish with some awesome strikes as the overs whittled away. His innings built through unnatural reticence, and patience with a difficult track through to a crescendo of fearsome blows as the weaker bowlers were gruesomely punished. His 132 not out very gratefully received as Hallingbury took a superb tea after 45 overs at 214 for 7.
Wethersfield started with good intent, picking off Fenson and Astwood to the shorter boundary. Rumble featured well behind the stumps anticpating effectively to restrict extras. Their run rate was ahead of LHCC at 20 overs, and their senior players knew batting out their allotted overs would see them home. With a tight spell from Malik , partially offset by Dobson's 6 over spell, the home side were always in the game .However they underestimated the guile of Sudip's tempting offspin [ 5 for 43] and fell 18 runs short in the final over as Rumble claimed his first stumping albeit netball style.
