Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team v Matching Green II on Sat 11 Jun 2016 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 21 runs
Match report
Matching Green came to Hallingbury with a plan that they executed beautifully, just falling short in their attempt to halt our unbeaten run. With deep set fields and a well drilled bowling attack, Martin Figg's blend of youth and experience contained the Hallingbury top order, keeping the scoring rate at less than 4 an over for most of the innings. Goold was dropped twice on his way to 50, while Kalyanker played a more fluent innings notching up his first half century of the season.
However, with wickets in hand, it was Fensom, Rumble and Astwood that scored important runs in the last 10 overs. We ended up on 215, once again failing to see out or 45 overs. We knew we had a battle on our hands.
Jay and Rich both took early wickets, but the arrival of Tom Figg meant the game started to slip away from us. Dealing almost exclusively in boundaries, Figg raced to 50 and saw Matching ahead of the run rate at drinks with 7 wickets in hand.
Enter Sarwar who proceeded to bowl his most consistent and accurate spell of his short Hallingbury career. Working in tandem with Ish, they slowed the the run rate and wickets began to fall. When Ish tempted Figg into an injudicious swipe, the sound of timber meant that Hallingbury were now in the driving seat. Jay's second spell helped close out the innings, while Sudip held his nerve to bowl 3 important overs at the death.
Man of the Match - Sudip. Top score in the runs and an important wicket in his bowling spell.
