Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team v Rickling Ramblers on Sat 25 Jun 2016 at 1.30pm
Match was Abandoned
Match report
A frustrating day at the office.
Hallingbury chose to bat first on a damp wicket and struggled to get away in the early overs. Both Templeman brothers bowled tight lines and Goold and Turner fell cheaply. Enter Amit who changed the course of our innings with a stylish and at times brutal knock. It's not often Ish plays second fiddle, but he was happy to tap the ball around as Amit plundered runs from the middle overs. However, we never quite got away and needed some late hitting from Luke to get us to 230 which felt like no more than a par score.
The Rickling response also started slowly until Emsden got in to gear. Batting pretty much on one leg, he hit the ball to all parts of the ground and avoided running by dealing solely in boundaries. With sensible support from Lodge, the Rickling chase was well on course until Emsden went for one hit too many. He picked out the wrong fielder as Dylan took an excellent diving catch to make sure Hallingbury stayed in the game.
From that point, the Rickling innings gradually fell away. Clever bowling from Sudip saw him take 5 wickets and another fantastic 10 wicket spell from Ish kept the run rate in check. Jay returned to mop up the tail and we were two wickets short of victory when the heavens opened. Both teams stayed for an hour to try and complete the final 7 overs, but the weather won in the end.
Man of the Match - Amit for his outstanding 100. Who could forget his 6 over point into Wendy's garden
