Match report Hallingbury lost the toss and batted first on a cloudy but humid day.
We started badly and didn't really recover, with the only highlights being Jay's all round performance, a plucky last wicket stand and Jenny's tea.
Goold went in the first over trying to hit over the top and when Turner holed out off a decent pull shot in the second over, we were 1-2. Jay stood firm and batted maturely while the middle order crumbled around him. Only Gareth managed to dig in, but when Jay was out for exactly 50, our hopes for a decent total faded. Dylan took the attack back to the opposition and made his top Saturday score, but we were all out with 10 overs to spare with just over 130 on the board. Credit to High Roding whose openers bowled excellent 10 over spells, while in the field they held some great catches without spilling any.
The Roding reply started well, but as is customary, we kept taking wickets at important times. Welland smashed a quick 40, but was bowled by the canny Astwood. Jay's second spell saw him take 2 wickets in 2 balls. At 97-7 we were possibly favourites and when another wicket fell at 112 it was still anyone's game. But some calculated hitting from Pask saw the momentum shift and Roding raced home with 2 wickets to spare.
