Matching Green II v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team on Sat 13 Aug 2016 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 148 Runs
Match report
With 3 games to go we traveled to Matching Green this weekend, won the toss, chose to bat and lost Stewart first ball to a catch behind. Thankfully we had Alex and Ishfaq to calm nerves, who played the initially economical Roos and milked Scanlon at the other end. Both made it to fifty before their stand of 121 came to an end when Ishfaq was caught sweeping. Jay joined Alex at the crease and proved a fine foil with both scoring freely in a 115 run partnership which saw Alex make it to 127, before Jay fell for 38. Alex perished with the score still on 236 after a fine innings which included 20 fours and 2 sixes. Sudip became the third wicket to fall on 236 when he was run out.In contrasting innings, Luke and Gareth shared a 50 partnership, where Luke's clean hitting saw him to 33 before he fell to short pitched delivery that almost rolled onto the stumps. Stuart scored 13 before being trapped LBW and Phil (8*) and Gareth (32*) took 29 off the last three overs to see us to an imposing 337-8.
Rich and Jay bowled tightly in their opening spells, restricting Matching to around 3 an over for much of their innings. Jay (1-31) removed their opener with a delivery that seamed away to clip the top of middle and off. Run-miser Malik entered the fray and dried up the dangerous Figg as well as removing the 3, 4 and 5 bats to finish with figures of 3-18 off of 9 overs. Stuart picked up a wicket in his ten overs and Sudip removed Figg for 46 and then had Roos caught on the mid-wicket boundary by the exceptional Will, who fielded superbly all day. As the innings fizzled out 10 man Matching finished on 189-7.
With High Roding losing against Rickling Ramblers this win secured a second successive promotion and will see us in Division 3 next season.
