Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team v Potter Street on Sun 11 Sep 2016 at 1.30pm
Match was Drawn
Match report
Following a cancellation by Sampford's a fixture was obtained via HECL with Potter Street who classified themselves as weak/medium.
Fresh from his morning football exploits Rumble opened the bowling with a variety of deliveries that kept both batsmen and wicketkeeper guessing whilst Sam Watt bowled a good spell of swinging deliveries taking 3 wickets
The opposition seemed in 20/20 mode with a succession of boundaries and wickets. Their number seven scored a ton with support from the number nine It was a sunny hot day with Hallingbury being tested in the field by batsman scoring a variety of boundaries all the way down the order casting doubt on the weak medium rating. There were two good catches during the innings by Andy Renals and Luke Rumble however various misfields by Hallingbury also helped Potter Street who ended on 270 after 37 overs
Faced with this total Hallingbury proceeded to be positive against a very strong bowling attack with Turner & Rumble posting 65 for the 1st wicket and then Goold joined Turner where both batsmen played a variety of entertaining cricket shots whilst vocally supported by Stuarts dog in the background. Hallingbury were well posed at 182 for 1 with 15 overs left, the rate was always a high ask, Goold was finally bowled for 39 whilst Turner continued his fine summer racing to a well deserved century before edging one behind
There then followed a Sunday afternoon collapse including 2 run outs, involving Thorne, still apparently affected by the demands of running a three the week before which saw Stedman senior and Dave Jones bat out six overs until there were 8 balls left when Stedman snr decided not to play a shot to an in swinging fast delivery.
This brought in our number 11 Stedman jnr (thanks dad) who saw out 2 very fast deliveries leaving Dave Jones to bat out the last over securing a well earned draw
