Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team v Cloghams on Sat 13 May 2017 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets
Match report
Berries secured their second win of the season in a well fought match at home to Cloghams. Having won the toss and opted to bat, the Cloghams openers set themselves to see of the opening bowlers, with Rich conceding just 36 runs off his 10 overs. Having reached 86-0 off 22 overs at drinks Crouchman and Dunmow accelerated and some fine stroke play saw them to 202 before Dunmow (70) was caught 5 times by Stuart Dobson off of Sudip in an act that should see him go down well at Covent Garden if he so chooses.
Luke again bowled some unplayable deliveries that foxed the well set opening pair at times. After Rob Crouchman was dismissed for a magnificent 156 when Jack caught him off of Stuart, Berries continued their fight back. 7 wickets fell in the space of 4 overs. Sudip (4-78) was again in the wickets and Stuart finished with 3-49. This flurry allowed us to restrict Cloghams to 272-8.
In reply, Stewart and Amit got a bit of a start before Goold (15) left one outside off stump, which seamed in and, alas, failed to remain outside of stump for the remainder of its trajectory. Dave (35) and Tom (41) shared partnerships of 91 and 81 respectively with Amit and all three played some scintillatingly cultured shots. Tom again unleashing several languid lofted drives that just oozed class.
With Amit, who had treated everyone to another masterclass in shot selction, if not calling and running, was yorked by Dunmow on 99, Berries still required 67 from 63 balls and had two new men at the crease. Promoted up the order, Luke (18) took 10 of one over to settle the nerves. When he and Jack were out, Dobbie (14*) and Sudip (26*) saw us to 275 with 7 balls to spare.
Another game played in an excellent spirit, next week we visit Hockerill.
