Potter Street v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team on Sat 10 Jun 2017 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets
Match report
Berries were back on the road again this week after last week's reverse at Willingale. The challenge was to take on Potter Street, the division's only unbeaten side. Having won the toss, Sudip put the opposition in and the home side showed their intent. Hassan (48) struck the ball cleanly and with power to steer Street to 82 off 14 overs. It was Rich who induced a mistimed stroke that fell short of the long on boundary and into Amit's waiting hands. Soon afterwards Khan was caught in the covers by Sudip as he drove loosely at Rich.
N Mirza's 51 put Potter Street in the hunt for 250+, but tight bowling and fielding led to an impressive last 15 overs for Berries which saw just 30 runs conceded and wickets tumbled. Sudip (3-21) Jay (2-26) and Ishfaq's miserly 7 over spell all pegged Potter Street back to 197-9.
In reply, the early loss of Stewart to a run out did little to dent Berries move to the total. Amit again batted imperiously on his way to 72, supported ably by Ish (19) and Tom (26). When we lost our fourth wicket It fell upon Sudip (27*), yet again, to fulfil his new Kanesque role of top finisher. With mini stands with Tom and Jay edging us closer to the total, he was joined by Phil who batted assuredly for his 13 not out to see us home with 4 wickets and 7 overs to spare.
The win leaves us top, on the same points as Potter Street.
