Match report Another run fest at Gaston Green finished with Berries beating Thaxted by 24 runs. The day will be remember for Tom Phipps maiden century as he brought up his 100 in 92 balls. Eventually finishing on 111, Tom's innings contained numerous lofted drives and shots of exquisite timing. Ishfaq made 60 and a rapid fifty partnership from Jay (43) and Luke (35) for the 6th wicket in 4 overs saw us to 41.

Jay followed his knock with a an opening spell that posed serial problems for the Thaxted openers and remove Gent (21) with a ball that swung away and took the outside edge. Luke thought he has the other opener LBW, but a clear inside edge led to Berries recalling Winter after he had been given out. Winter went onto score 111 in a 3rd wicket partnership of 123 with Webster (73). Webster was eventually stumped off Sunny (3-83) and Winter fell soon afterwards bowled by an unplayable delivery by Rumble (1-63) that pitch on middle and off and seamed away to hit the top of off.

Jay's 2-31 was amazing in the context of a game that saw 658 runs scored at over 7 an over, but the day belonged to Tom, whose inning kept us in the hunt for promotion and the title.
