Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team v R Goold XI on Sun 04 Jun 2017 at 2.00pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 5 Wickets
Match report
With the Saturday team losing on the previous day, the Sunday side were hoping to get their second win of the season. Most of the Rachel Goold Xl turned up late, so they batted first under cloudy and grey skies at Gaston Green. The Tipper boys started well, hitting the ball well and finding the gaps. That showed as they both retired on 50 not out. Will Renals and Dave Jones bowled well keeping the run-rate down and frustrating the batting side with some good pitched bowling. The Rachel Goold XI got to a par total of 149 from their 30 overs thanks to some late order hitting from Jon Porter.
The Hallingbury innings started well with Tonker Tom looking to end the game before tea. However his innings ended when Will Goold bowled him middle stump and Jack Culpin started to rebuild. The second wicket pair were proceeding cautiously and received a slice of luck the size of one of Cheryl's cakes when Cooney dropped Culpin off Goold.
Gradually the Rachel Goold XI started to claw back the run rate with Jon Porter bowling a miserly spell. Freddie Goold picked up a wicket and an excellent run out from bullet arm Dave Wain saw Hallingbury wobble. Culpin had to retire on 50 and 9 were needed off the last over with Stewart bowling to Stuart. Goold's leg side theory was working well in tandem with umpire Behagg, however all good things come to an end. Dobson smashed the penultimate ball over the boundary past a diving Dave Wain and the game was over.
There were several strong batting performances, but the man of the match award went to Jack Culpin for an innings that ultimately won the game for Hallingbury.
