Match was Drawn

Match report Another Sunday another friendly fixture. This time we welcomed a youthful Takeley side to LHCC HQ with both teams having 12 players, we played 12 a side. We lost the toss and bowled first. T.Connory(28) and C. Miler(42) started well running well between the wickets. Nothing seemed to be going right for us, epically when a horrible collision between Rory Panton and Sam Watt ended up in a catch going down. Thankfully nobody was injured It looked like we were going to go through the whole innings without getting a wicket. But Will Renals(2-46) caught Tim Connory out hooking the ball and Nick gratefully took the catch. Will was ably supported by Sam Watt(1-46) who bowled nice and tightly. Taklely closed on 199-3 from their allotted time.

After a great tea including rock cakes and lemon drizzle cake we started our reply. Paul and Sam opened and batted calmly and sensibly until Sam(20) was bowled. We then had another “Hallingbury Collapse” as we lost wickets at the wrong time. A valliant effort from Will Goold(27) and Tom Wharton(5) was not enough. As the overs ticked by there was only going to be one result.it was left to Ritch and Andy to bat out for the draw. A good game of cricket with the right result at the end of it. Next weekend we are at home again to Hallingbury Place.
