Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team v Harlequins on Sun 09 Jul 2017 at 2.00pm

Match report
On another boiling hot day Hallingbury bowled first against a strong looking Harlequins side.
Despite a very unfriendly bowling surface which offered no encouragement to our bowling attack our bowlers toiled away and were supported by some outstanding fielding in the deep throughout the innings.
However the Harlequins openers took advantage of the conditions and put on over 200 for the 1st wicket. One of the batsman eventually missed a straight one and the visitors ended up on 257 for 1.
Hallingbury seemed to suffer from fielding in the hot weather and having to much of an excellent tea when it came to their turn to bat.
We lost 4 quick wickets, then it became (as it always was really) a rear guard action with young Harvey Platt using up valuable deliveries in the middle. Raj played a captains knock top scoring and narrowly missed smashing the pavilion window with one straight drive before he went for one massive shot to many!
With 20 overs left and 8 wickets down things were looking grim, Will Renals joint Martin Stedman with the pair batting until 6 overs remained before the senior player set a fine example by getting himself out stumped.
The opposition were confident surely victory was theirs, with Malcolm and Will the last pair.
Overs ticked by, with the scoring rate required totalling 30 runs per over Malcolm decided to play some shots just to increase the tension but we somehow reached the last over which the pair survived and Hallingbury managed an well earned draw!
Man of the match Will Renals for batting the best part of 20 overs under intense pressure with fielders surrounding him and saving the game!
