Great Hyde Hall v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team on Sun 16 Jul 2017 at 2.00pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets
Match report
This was a new fixture against Hyde Hall who play half a dozen games a year and who Hallingbury last played against around 25 years ago!
The pitch is located in the stunning grounds at Hyde hall and it was certainly a pleasant change to play on a greenish wicket offering assistance to the bowlers but also allowing batsmen to score runs.
This was a 30 over game where everyone including the wicketkeeper had to bowl at least 2 overs, with the first ball being a free hit and a batsman retiring on 25 but allowed to come back if required.
Hallingbury bowled first, the second ball went for six but consistent bowling after a tight opening spell from Will Renals and Will Goold kept the rate under control despite a surge in the middle by the batsman, wickets kept falling, with the highlight being 3 catches in the deep, 2 very good ones by Dylan and one by Dave Jones who got his body behind ball and had the seam mark to prove it!
Hyde Hall batted all the way down to no 11, continuing to play shots but Andy Renals bowled a very good 2 overs taking 2 wickets along with the wicket keeper who not only bowled straight for 4 overs but was economical as well.
Hyde Hall were out for 131
Hallingbury lost 2 early wickets but Raj and Dave Jones both played attacking innings before both retired after reaching 25, the captain nearly saw us home but a quick fall of wickets saw Andy Renals and Luke Stedman (who hit a straight 4) see us home with 5 overs to spare
A very enjoyable game where everyone contributed, man of the match Dave Jones with 28 runs 2 wickets and a catch on the boundary
