Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team v Andy Renals XI on Sun 20 May 2018 at 2.00pm,
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won by 10 wickets
Match report
On a hot sunny day Hallingbury fielded first, which proved a wise move given the tea served later that day!!! The format was a 30 over game with everyone one bowling at least 2 overs each including the w/k much to his delight and batsmen retiring on 25
The first over saw Tom Wharton bowl a straight one that moved off the seam beating Jack Culpin all ends up whilst playing a defensive shot, this set the tone for the innings.
Wickets fell at regular intervals, with the ball keeping very low throughout the day, with everyone bowling well, Hallingbury bowled Andy's eleven out for 107, with highlights including M Stedman taking a fine catch at point whilst running in, injuring his finger in the process and then creating a Champaign moment next over by fielding on the boundary and running after a ball he thought was going the same direction as a bird who was taking off only to find the ball had crossed the boundary some distance away in the opposite direction he was running!
After a quite brilliant tea the batsman proceeded to knock off the runs with Karim setting the tone by hitting the first ball of the innings for a massive six, excellent knocks also followed from Jameel and Tom who all retired as well after reaching 25 with some fine shots leaving the final honours to Alex and Malcolm who was promoted up the order on the day.
The first Sunday win of the season on an enjoyable day with a game played in an excellent spirit
