Match report
On another hot tropical day LHCC fielded first and once again on Sunday like throughout the season despite the best efforts of the bowlers the game followed an all to familiar pattern with an uneven contest between bat and ball on a flat wicket
Luke Stedman and Jo Ash bowled very good opening spells against the openers with an early break thorough by Luke Stedman, this proved to be the only wicket taken as the batsmen took full advantage of the conditions plus a short boundary on one side of the wicket to amass a score of 220 for 1 before a declaration shortly before tea with the fielders returning to the shade of the pavilion to enjoy an superb tea laid on by the captain
Hallingbury made an positive start with Raj and a returning Zac Matthews producing an opening stand of 104 with both batsman scoring well making 50's, both openers were bowled with Raj playing back to a delivery that kept low . LHCC then lost quick wickets as batsmen continued to go for the target playing attacking shots. At 132 for 5 Tom Grove (making his debut) and Jo Ash put on 40 runs before both fell trying to hit boundaries. Despite losing late wickets Luke Stedman and Malcolm Featherstone saw out the closing over to ensure LHCC ended up with a well deserved draw in a game played in an excellent spirit by both sides
