Hatfield Broad Oak v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team on Sun 09 Sep 2018 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Lost By 4 Wickets
Match report
LHCC travelled to Hatfield Broad Oak's new ground for their final game where the club are now starting to play home fixtures on a new square with plans to develop the facilities
Against a strong HBO team LHCC batted first where despite an accurate opening fast bowler Karim made an entertaining 33 before he was out with the score on 39
The skipper could not repeat his heroics of the week before and the HBO bowlers reduced us to 56 for 6 with LHCC imitating an England style batting collapse, before limping to 81 for 9 with just under an hour left
Martin Stedman joined Malcolm Featherstone and the pair put on over 50 runs (a new club record partnership) before Malcolm was out in the last over before tea leaving LHCC on 135 all out
The LHCC opening bowlers produced tight spells with 5 maidens in the first 7 overs with little luck despite an early breakthrough by Luke Stedman, unfortunately early dropped catches in the outfield proved to be an ongoing theme on the day as more catches went down throughout the innings plus a couple of unlucky LBW shouts and a consistent number of expensive misfields which cost LHCC dear. Despite using 7 bowlers HBCC put on a number of important partnerships before they reached the required total of 136 for the loss of 6 wickets
