Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team v Farnham on Sat 16 Jun 2018 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won by 90 runs
Match report
Hallingbury won an important toss as neither side had their full compliment of players available at the start of the match. This meant Farnham took the field with only 9 players enabling the 2 Amits to pierce the field at regular intervals. Amit K hit 4 consecutive 4s off the second over, however it wasn't long before a rising delivery clipped the shoulder of his bat and he was caught in the gully. Amit Singh continued his good run of form, but when he was out on 31, a pattern began to emerge. While the middle order kept he scoreboard moving, wickets fell at far too regular intervals.
Sunny entered the fray at number 5 and played one of his best innings for the club. The Farnham attack had both pace and variety and Sunny played with great discipline and patience. Useful partnerships developed with Mark McCraith and Stu Dobson, but nobody managed to stick around. Hitting 95 not out, he scored 50 runs more than any other player on both sides and helped set up a total that proved to be more than competitive. His only mistake was running his last 3, leaving Rich to face out what subsequently became the final over of our innings.
In what is becoming something of a stuck record, Jay bowled beautifully with little luck. In one over, he had 4 edges that went through the slips. At the other end Stu was steady and accurate, moving the ball enough to induce an edge and a fine catch by at slip by Dave Wain. Jay shrugged.
Rich Astwood was the pick of the bowlers, taking three of the Farnham top order, he also held a lovely catch at long on. Never in doubt. Mark McCraith bowled the tightest spell of all, his 9 overs going for only 22 runs. Sudip and Sunny mopped up the tail.
Our 4th win in 5 games sees us leapfrog Farnham in the table and move up to 4th place. Next week we are away at Theydon Bois.
