Theydon Bois v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team on Sat 23 Jun 2018 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 5 Wickets
Match report
Not a great day to lose the toss. A cloudless sky greeted Theydon Bois and they opened the innings with great intent. A flurry of boundaries was halted by Fensom who clean bowled Jaswal for 10. The Theydon innings proceeded at a sedate pace, with Hallingbury bowling and fielding tightly, taking wickets at important times. Stu Dobson took the key wicket of Balan, bowling him for 51. From that moment Hallingbury pushed home the advantage, taking 5 wickets for 5 runs and restricting the home team to 207. Another week when we fielded well and held most of the chances on offer. Ish was particularly miserly, only conceding 20 runs in his 9 overs. Special mention for Nabeel who fielded really well and covered more ground than anyone on what was a two-drinks break afternoon.
Theydon responded well. Neither our openers settled and we were quickly two down for 25 runs. Dave Wain and Ishfaq built steadily, but Dave fell with the score on 85 and still plenty of work to do. Jay and Ish then tucked in to the second string bowlers, putting on 80 and getting to us within 50 of the total. Sudip nearly saw us home, but it was up to Ish to hit the winning runs. Easily the man of the match with 97 runs not out, Ishfaq proved once again what a quality cricketer he is, apart from when he is bending down to field the ball.
Next weekend sees us at home to Thorley who have won their last 3 games. Should be a good one.
