Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team v Thorley on Sat 30 Jun 2018 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 102 Runs
Match report
A day that will be remembered for Hallingbury for making hay while the sun shone.
Thorley arrived at Gaston Green on the back of 3 wins but found they were up against more than 11 cricketers when they lost the toss and were invited to bowl. The warm, dry spell not only made wicket preparation tricky, it also ripened the barley in the adjacent field. And so it was that Thorley were forced to field in a recurring dustbowl as a combine harvester went to work next door.
The two Amit's again gave us a solid start, but this time it was Amit Singh who posted a fifty to give our innings some substance. Ish, Dave Wain and Stu Dobson all contributed useful knocks and with a licence to thrill, Rich hit 3 boundaries in 2 overs to help us to and imposing 270 total.
Rich carried his batting momentum in to his opening spell, bowling quickly with late inswing. He removed the dangerous Reed in the first over and quickly followed up with the wicket of Boosey. At 95-5 Thorley never looked in the hunt until some late order hitting from the impressive Lamb caused Hallingbury to wobble a little. However he was running out of partners at the other end and when Stu took a fine catch to remove Dellow, the game was up. More cheap wickets for Sudip, who mopped up the tail, and we wrapped the game up with 15 overs to spare. Just as the combine completed its final lap of the field.
