Takeley v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team on Sat 07 Jul 2018 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Lost by 9 runs
Match report
As Football fever was all over the place, cricket can't be spare out of it, we started early in the morning at 10 am and after winning the toss, we decided to take the field first in the early sunshine rather than afternoon scorching sun. Despite playing without regular opener bowlers, we started well and managed to control Takeley's fine openers and force to play control innings on a fine batting pitch at the start, supported by good fielding. Our fielding was top and exceptional so to accelerate the run rate, Takeley decided to hit over the top to find the runs. After a partnership of 142 for first wicket A. Singh, strike and Sudip managed to take a good catch on the boundary, from there we managed to take regular wickets and Takely finishes 257/6.
LHCC knows this can be done and started the run chase in style with keeping the run rate around 6 but losing both openers back to back, it was Skipper and Vice skipper gets in the middle and started hitting all over the places and keeping the run rate in control. Takeley was trying hard with good bowling attack in scorching heat until Sudip stumped on 53 after a partnership of 96 runs with Ish.
With good bowling and top notch fielding earlier, Stuart Dobson joins in the middle by hitting the powerful shots out of the ground and cleared his intentions. Ish played a magnificent inning of 57 with some of the beautiful drives. After both Ish and Stuart departed, LHCC was still required 50 runs in 30 balls and then Karim started to hit over the top and timing it well with some long sixes bring the task closer to finish but at the end run out of the overs and come 9 runs short in well-fought battle!
