Thaxted v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team on Sat 11 May 2019 at 1.30pm
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won by 31 Runs

Match report Hallingbury notched their first league win of the season with a terrific all round performance away at Thaxted.
Hallingbury lost the toss and were invited to bat on a wet wicket that had suffered considerably from overnight showers. An extremely slow outfield meant scoring was difficult but as usual, our openers took the aggressive approach. A brisk partnership of 42 was brought to an end when Amit Kalyankar went arial once too often. The innings started to deteriorate when Wain gambled on the oppositions best fielder and was run out followed swiftly in the pavilion by Amit Singh who was unluckily bowled off his helmet.
Just as last week, the rain intervened reducing the game to 40 overs per side.
Tom and Sudip set about rebuilding the innings. Sudip was particularly fluent, hitting a fantastic straight six off Freeman. Tom was more measured, playing himself in to form after the winter hiatus. When Sudip was bowled with 12 overs left, in came Stewart Goold who proceeded to hack away at the leg side boundary. He enjoyed some good fortune when dropped by Gent at deep square leg, but took advantage, hitting 2 sixes and reaching fifty in just over 10 overs. Tom held the innings together and was not out on 49 at tea, giving us a competitive total of 214.
Sudip captained brilliantly in the Thaxted innings. He worked magic with our inexperienced bowling attack, making changes at the right time and ensuring we had the right fielders (ie Stuart Dobson) in the right place whenever the ball went in the air. Nabeel bowled a terrific opening spell, teasing the batsmen and keeping the run rate down. Will took over and had Gent caught behind followed by the prize wicket of Mathews who was bowled for 1. At one point it looked like Thaxted’s big hitting middle order would get them home, however an outstanding boundary catch from Stu Dobson followed by a brilliant one stump run out from Tom Phipps kept our noses in front. Sudip and Amit K kept a tight line and the Thaxted innings petered out 30 runs short.
