Match report Once again we started early, this time to be finished in time for what proved to be a fairly forgettable Champions League final. The best sporting action of the day took place earlier at Cricket Field Lane, Bishop’s Stortford.
It was the warmest day of the year and therefore not a good one to lose the toss. Stortford put us in to bat, fielding the traditional mixture of talented youngsters, seasoned campaigners and first team bowlers returning from injury. Ish and Stu opened and the latter managed to take an early wicket before WIll and Amit took over. Amit’s cold blooded accuracy and Will’s enthusiasm were a potent combination and the Stortford innings slowly ground to a halt as wickets tumbled. Will finished with his best Saturday figures for the club and Nabeel also picked up a handy wicket, leaving Hallingbury chasing 135 for victory.
It wasn't our best ever opening partnership, but in a low chase, 41 represented a good start. There was a little wobble when Ish fell fotr a duck, but Tom Phipps was on hand to steer us home. He and the retuning Alex Turner mixed style with with the odd agricultural shot to make sure we were in the bar by 5.30. Our third win of the season puts us 4th in the League.
