Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 119 Runs

Match report It was bright sunshine that welcomed both teams to Gaston Green as we faced Bishop’s Stortford. We lost the toss and fielded first. A new look opening partnership of Simon Jones and Mithun looked to get us off to a good start with the bat, but unfortunly it didn’t happen with Simon being given out LBW after one glorious cover drive. Ollie came in at 3 and played a superbly paced innings and got to a match winning 100 in the process. Playing cautiously in the early overs, he gradually accelerated towards the end sapping the life and energy out of the Stortford attack. He had good support from Joe Ash (38) and Stewart Goold (23*) and in doing this set a new club record of 102 with the latter for the 9th wicket partnership. Berries eventually reached a total of 255 all out.
Stortford got off to a flying start with the bat racing to 52-0 in the 5th over. However some intelligent slow bowling from Nick(3-23), Sudip(1-9) and Mithun(2-12) helped the required run rate to climb and in the end it was too much as we bowled them out for 136. Next week we play our penultimate game of the season against Matching Green.
