Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team v A Renals XI on Sun 09 May 2021 at 14.00hrs
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 95 Runs
Match report
A windy afternoon at Gaston Green saw LHCC host the annual A Renals XI fixture, seeing the home side head out to bat first. Some quality batting was put on display by the hosts and boundaries were plentiful, seeing Raj top score (44*) in a very Raj-esque manner! With notable contributions from Luke, Karim and Tom, Hallingbury came in at tea with a very challenging total of 208.
Thanks to some tight bowling from our openers, an early wicket fell to Mr Goold and Maria then picked up the wicket of T. Culpin. After impressing with the bat, Ajith impressed again with the ball, picking up two wickets on his debut! Nick came on and showed a liking to the top of off stump, seeing him take a brilliantly entertaining 5fa. Tidy bowling and great fielding all round (including Martin diving to his left despite his old age!) kept the pressure on the visiting side. J Culpin (33) was in great touch and looked set, but Luke Wharton took a blinder of a catch in the deep to seel the first home win of the season for the Berries.
A great game and a great atmosphere - it was good to be back. Next week sees us take on Broadoak at home, looking to continue this fine start to the season.
