Little Hadham v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team on Sun 18 Jul 2021 at 14.00hrs

Match report
A scorching hot Sunday saw us travel to Thorley Cricket Club to take on Little Hadham in a traditional timed match. With Tom away, stand-in captain Sam won the toss and chose to bat first in the 30 degree heat. Karim got us off to a good start, finding the fence multiple times in a typically aggressive knock. Joe Ash walked out to join Karim, and immediately picked up where he had left off last season with the pair putting on a good partnership before Karim fell for 53. Rory quickly came and went for 13 before Luke S joined Ash in the middle. Joe would dominate the innings from this point, soon passing his 50 and continuing to accelerate. Luke meanwhile would hang around with him for a while, the pair also putting on a good partnership with the middle Stedman even hitting a 6 before he was out. Not long after Malcolm walked out to bat, Ash fell for a superb 89 in the final over of the innings and soon after that we were all out for 203 at tea.
To win the game we would have to bowl Hadham out, and we got off to a good start with Goold taking the key wicket of Islam very early on, and Maria then dismissing the next man in soon after. At this point Hadham began to bat out the time remaining, making it doubly hard to take the remaining wickets. Then, Oxborrow holed out to Matt off of Luke's bowling and once again we could sense we had a chance. The dangerous Arif was then brilliantly caught by Karim off of Joe Ash, who would then clean up the Hadham number 7 to leave the home side in all sorts of strife. Karim would also come on in this time and struck almost immediately with Sam taking the catch to dismiss Sims, before Karim then managed to get Wheatley out caught and bowled to leave them 7 down. Alas, the Hadham tail successfully negotiated the final few overs and held on for a draw. A thoroughly enjoyable day out in the sun!
