Match report A new season dawned for LHCC as we played our traditional season opener away at Eastons. We batted first and didn’t get off to the best of starts as we had a top order collapse and we were at one stage 55-6. But some big hitting from Rajan along with some strong support from Raj and Freddie Dutton near the end of the innings got us to 165-8 from our allotted time.

With a competitive score at the halfway point of the innings we thought we had a good chance of winning the game. We got off to a good start with the ball as Dutton and Goold started well, bowing economically and picking up early wickets. Some good bowling towards the end from Raj who deservedly picked up 4 wickets and Malcolm who picked up 2 wickets set up an exciting finish to the game. Catches were held and our fielding looked sharp. With 4 overs remaining, we only needed one further wicket to grab the win. However, despite the best efforts of our bowlers, we couldn’t take the final wicket to win the game.
