Hatfield Broad Oak v Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team on Sun 11 Sep 2022 at 13.00
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Lost by 49 Runs

Match report On a warm cloudy day Hallingbury won the toss and elected to bowl on a green wicket in a 36 over game where each bowler could bowl a maximum of 6 overs

Luke (on loan from Wales) and Maria Stedman opened the bowling with the ball swinging both ways in accurate spells apart from Lukes first over where his radar had temporary ceased working which saw the older Stedman diving all over the place behind the stumps.
However Maria soon struck twice in the same over with two excellant deliveies the second one being unplayable and putting her on a hat trick, Luke followed this next over with an inswinging fast yorker beating the opening batsman for pace leaving HBO 19-3, next over Maria had a close LBW turned down, the bat was then beaten on a regular basis but the HBO middle order dug in, once the opening bowlers were taken off young James Schilder came on and bowled an excellant spell of economical leg spin finding turn, however Challis and Homer from HBO put on a valuable partnership picking up on some loose deliveries form the other end before a run out and two wickets from the mystery leg spinner saw Hallingbury come back into the game. Wickets fell regularly, although some important extras were given away during the latter part of the innings, and HBO were finally all out for 97 after 29 overs which represented a good recovery considering the start and the fact that there were three golden ducks in the innings

Hallingbury strode out in a confident frame of mind with young Dutton the acting skipper and Matthew Schilder looking at ease scoring runs until the skipper missed a straight one which rearranged his stumps, next over the key wicket of Karim was taken by Anna Haddon. However with nearly 30 on the board LHCC had eight wickets in hand with Matthew and Sam Watt looking comfortable plus with an attacking middle order to come surely nothing else could go wrong..............

HBO then brought on early a left arm spinner who bowled a mesmorising spell of well flighted deliveries extracting turn, unfortunately all of which were on target which our batsmen failed to pick up as three of them were bowled playing defensive shots. Luke hit a couple of boundaries but then another pace bowler ran through the LHCC batsman with the final score being all out for 48 in just 19 overs, a truly magnifiant collapse which had to be seen to be believed

Fortunatley the local pub was open early which was just as well as the game finished just after 5pm
