Match report We huffed and puffed against Potter Street, but unfortunately, we were unable to blow their house down.

Winning the toss, we lost a wicket second ball when Amit sliced a drive and was caught at point. Luke Ranns and Oli Latham slowly built our innings, but accurate bowling on an unpredictable surface meant scoring runs was difficult. It wasn’t until Jack Culpin came to the wicket that we were able to wrestle some of the advantage. Gradually the boundaries started to flow. Ultimately Jack perished trying to accelerate the run rate while Matt Shepherd and Tom Heighes ran well and struck the odd six, taking us close to the 200 mark.

Tom opened and bowled fast and accurately. While he beat the bat regularly and bowled an immaculate slower ball, it wasn’t until Stu Dobson came on that we picked up our first wicket. Sudip then brought additional control and a couple of quick wickets meant we were well in the game at the halfway mark of the Potter Street innings. However, Street kept attacking and the ground felt smaller and smaller as the innings wore on. Eventually they reached our total with relative ease, and we were left dissecting the game in the beer garden of the Church Langley Premier Inn.
