Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Lost By 85 Runs

Match report A tough day at the office for Hallingbury. We lost the toss and were quite happy to chase having failed to set competitive totals in recent weeks. The Hockerill innings got off to a steady start, but accuracy from Stu and Samson meant it never felt as though the game was getting away from us. That all changed when Francis came in at 3 and took a much more positive approach. Unfortunately we dropped him in his second over and he went on to score a rapid 50 that ultimately took the scoring rate out of our reach. Matt Shepherd bowled well in the middle overs and Sudip picked up 2 wickets. However a series of dropped catches meant we were chasing a higher total than was necessary.
That said, 270 on a fast outfield looked gettable, but S Goold (stupid shot) and Latham (good ball) departed early and we were always playing catch up. With Amit, there was hope, but when he perished on 52 the run rate got steadily higher. Will Goold played one of his best knocks in League cricket and Stu Dobson looked like a man who should be batting a little higher in the order. In the end we fell 80 runs short - perhaps we are better when we set a total.
