Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Sunday Team v Acme CC on Sun 15 Sep 2024 at 1.00
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 6 Wickets

Match report On a sunny Autumn day with intermittent cloud cover the LHCC entertained ACME CC who travelled up from London. A friendly 33 over match was arranged on good summer track with well mown outfield. The teams were evenly matched with an array of abilities and ages from 70s to just into double figures. LHCC won the toss and inserted ACME. The visitors made some progress with the meat of their innings built around the accomplished stroke play of Sarma who top scored with 88 and strike rate of 103.5. LHCC bowling and fielding was on form ,and above a Sunday norm as we kept them below 6 an over to 193. Extras totalled 35 with only 12 byes thanks to some great keeping from Eddie. Hugo 6-1 for 19 was very accurate and Aarush picked up 2 good wickets from his 4 for just 24 . Ollie was unlucky not to collect a wicket but pegged them back economy of just 4 an over from his 6. It was 3/3 for early catches in the field, before Samson's fantastic 33 m running catch to capture the dangerous and most wanted wicket of Sarma . Samson also only conceded 17-1 from a mid innings spell of 6 overs , ably supported by Vishal in a very tidy 4 over spell yielding 2 for 12.
A sub optimal batting start occurred as a poor LHCC comms mix up gave up Vishal's wicket too cheap, and then Rashid followed a wide one to nick behind . The bowling was accurate with just 5 wides awarded as LHCC lost Aarush at 4 to a decent catch for 4. At 21-3 down and seeing a mountain to climb with a reasonably long tail Samson and Phil adopted a " ball by ball " approach to survive then prosper. The runs accumulated, the boundaries were interspersed by better calling and working the pace on or off the ball. The Run rate was around 6 an over, the Juice break seen off , and a partnership got built to 119 with Samson when Phil was beaten by a significant off-cutter from the skillful Pindoria , for his commendable 53. At 140-4 with 10 overs left the game, 54 required, was in a delicate balance. Samson grew in stature punishing the looser ball when offered, and Hugo supported well with his 13. Fittingly for this match with the last ball delivered before 7pm Samson dispatched another boundary for a quality 105 not out to secure a victory to this young side, and acclaim this milestone.
Absolute full credit must go to ACME XI and their captain Bahyr who also used 8 bowlers, lent us their umpire when we were short and led his side on and off the field with an exemplary cricketing spirit
