Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 11 Runs

Match report This week's league match was away to Braughing on a ground with a mighty slope (nothing like the Lord's slope, but enough to make us think!) We lost the toss and were put in to bat, which started off in the usual fashion with Stew G playing safe and Joe Apperley hitting a solid 62 (54). After sub-average knocks in the middle order, Luke W, Sudip K and Will G came in and played with aggression and quality, scoring 44, 33 & 31 respectively. This was the final push we needed to secure a competitive total of 239 off our 40 overs. For you keen maths boffins out there, they indeed needed 6.00 rpo to catch us. The difference in bowling ends was clear in the first 15 overs as Aarush S and James S struggled to get into a rhythm, whilst Joe Ash bowling down the hill, delivered an untouchable 8 over spell to keep them under pressure. Luke and Stu D took 3 & 2 wickets respectively in the overs after drinks, and kept the pressure on even with their middle order starting to swing for the hills. They ran out of steam and only fell 11 runs short as their bowlers couldn't quite get them over the line, and we secured the victory over the team below us in the league table. Man of the Match goes to Luke Wharton, with his usual batting effort of loads of boundaries in the blink of an eye, and a brutally fast, triple wicket-taking bowling spell. A great performance from all in the field and a solid batting effort made this game a close one, but a well earned victory, congrats to all!
