Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Saturday Team v Bishop's Stortford CC 4th XI on Sat 09 Aug 2025 at 13:00
Little Hallingbury Cricket Club Won By 39 Runs
Match report
This week's league match against Bishop's Stortford 4th XI was a splendid game to be a part of, however, a somewhat heated affair at times, but it did not spoil a fabulous win. We started off with the bat with no real rhythm being established by the top order. Paritosh Maithil came in at 4 and held the innings together with a fine 74 which was crucial to give us a total of 171. This is usually a small total for league matches, especially at home, as our strips usually favour the bat, so we had to make sure to bowl consistently and field without mistake. The opening spells set us up brilliantly as stand in skipper Joe Ash and Aarush Soni made it tricky for them to lay bat on ball and get a solid start. Aarush took both their openers and by the 12th over they were only 34/2 which put us fully in control. The pick of the bowlers was James Schilder who took 3 wickets and bowled his full spell of 8 overs with a high quality combination of leg spin and googly deliveries which caused their middle order some real trouble. The fielding was strong, committed and very aggressive which allowed us to keep taking catches and runouts to stop them from settling. A worthy mention should go to Sam B-C, who with a dodgy elbow, fielded superbly and took a one handed diving catch at backward point. It was a no-ball, so counted for nothing, but at least it looked great! Our man-of-the-match was, without a doubt, Paritosh, who took 3 catches as WK, then took 2/14 when bowling, not to mention his 74 (106) in the first innings. Well done to everyone for your contributions with bat, ball and hands, it was a terrific all-round performance.
